Texans Co-Founder and Senior Chair Janice McNair will join her late husband, Bob McNair and former team icons Andre Johnson and JJ Watt in the Ring of Honor.
HOUSTON — Another name will be added to the Houston Texans Ring of Honor today during halftime of the team’s game against Denver at NRG Stadium.
That distinction will go to Janice McNair, Co-Founder and Senior Chair of the team, becoming the fourth person to earn that honor in franchise history.

McNair has shaped the Texans with leadership and generosity since day one, working alongside her late husband, Bob McNair, well before pro football returned to Houston’s big stage. The couple moved to Houston in 1960, raised a family of four, and poured their energy into building both a major sports franchise and a lasting foundation for all Houstonians.
With today’s Ring of Honor induction, Janice McNair joins a select group alongside Andre Johnson, Bob McNair, and J.J. Watt – names that have shaped the city and the organization in lasting ways.
“I’m thrilled to join Bob, Andre and J.J. in the Ring of Honor,” Janice McNair said in a July press release announcing her induction. “It means so much to me to be inducted alongside three of my favorite Texans. I have cherished every gameday since 2002 and I’m so proud of our team. It will be such a blessing to celebrate this special occasion with our amazing fans in November. Go Texans!”
If you’ve seen a charity supported by the Houston Texans, or taken part in a community program funded by the team, odds are it’s touched by Janice McNair’s vision. Through the Houston Texans Foundation, Janice and Bob McNair have raised more than $50 million for local charities, with a focus on youth and community development.
That’s only part of their story — total charitable contributions by the McNairs have surpassed half a billion dollars, reaching causes in education, medical research, and countless local projects.
McNair herself is a breast cancer survivor, and she continues to serve as a director for the family’s foundations, leaving a personal stamp on education and medical philanthropy. She’s also helped support Houston landmarks such as the Houston Zoo, Discovery Green, San Jacinto Girl Scouts, United Way, and the Houston Symphony, among many others.
In tough times, her generosity stood out. After Hurricane Harvey devastated the region, Janice and Bob gave $3 million to United Way of Greater Houston for relief efforts. Their support for local medical led to Baylor College of Medicine naming its McNair Campus after the family.
This year, as a capstone to her legacy, McNair received the Houston Sports Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her impact on the city’s sporting and philanthropic landscape.
