In order to reach the College World Series for the first time since 2022, Texas baseball must first get through the Oregon Ducks.
This weekend’s Austin Super Regional between Texas and Oregon gets underway Saturday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, with the second game scheduled Sunday night and a third game, if needed, to be scheduled for Monday, the NCAA announced. It will be the first time the two programs have ever met in baseball.
The winner of this best-of-three series advances to the College World Series that starts June 12 in Omaha, Neb. Texas, a 38-time CWS participant, hasn’t been to Omaha in four years. Oregon’s only CWS appearance was in 1954.
The No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, Texas (43-13) swept through last weekend’s Austin Regional with 19-1, 16-2, and 6-4 wins over Holy Cross, Tarleton State and UC Santa Barbara. The 11th-seeded Ducks (43-16) recorded three regional wins over Yale, Washington State and Oregon State by a combined score of 22-3.
