AUSTIN (KXAN) — After sweeping through the Austin Regional, the sixth-seeded Texas baseball team will host No. 11 Oregon for one of just two super regionals that include two nationally seeded teams.
The best-of-three series is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT Saturday from UFCU Disch-Falk Field after a wild round of regional action around the country.

Game 2 is at 8 p.m. Sunday, and if necessary, the deciding Game 3 will be Monday. The game time will be determined after Sunday’s game.

Along with the Longhorns and Ducks, the Athens Super Regional is the other that features two teams with top-16 seeds. Georgia, the host and No. 3 seed, takes on No. 14 Mississippi State.

Top-seeded UCLA was bounced from its regional by Saint Mary’s (who then lost to Cal Poly), and second-seeded Georgia Tech lost to Oklahoma. No national seeds made it out of Gainesville, Florida, or Hattiesburg, Mississippi — Troy and Little Rock will face off in Troy, Alabama, for a super regional after pulling off improbable regional championships.

Southern California took out No. 12 Texas A&M twice in College Station to advance. They’ll head to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to face the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels.
This is the second consecutive year that the top two national seeds failed to advance from the regional round. Vanderbilt and Texas were the teams that didn’t make it last season.
