AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) – The Austin Police Department is investigating a homicide after a body was found in a trash can in South Austin.
Austin Police officers responded to reports of a body inside a garbage can in the 4400 block of Pack Saddle Pass on May 30. When officers arrived on the scene, they located the victim with visible trauma and clearly deceased.
The victim was identified as Duc Vo, 59.
APD Homicide Detectives and Austin Forensic Science Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene. Detectives confirmed with city employees that they were emptying a trash can when they discovered the victim, who appeared to be bloody.
The victim showed signs of blunt force trauma, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Detectives believe Vo was assaulted and placed into the trash can early Friday morning.
The case is being investigated as Austin’s 26th homicide of 2026.
