LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Light to moderate rain persists across the region, with heaviest activity now concentrated in Garza County, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 8:15 a.m.

Rain rates are light enough that flooding on roads should gradually diminish through Wednesday morning.
As of 6 a.m., most areas near I-27/US-87 will only see light rain through the next several hours with minimal risk of additional flooding. There are heavier pockets of rain also affecting Crosby, Floyd, and Briscoe Counties.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue overnight through Wednesday, with some storms capable of producing heavy rain.
Wednesday Outlook
Precipitation will begin to decrease by sunrise, though scattered showers with embedded thunderstorms will remain through mid-morning. With remaining showers, stronger storm activity is expected to increase again by late morning to early afternoon as upper atmospheric conditions change.

Our next round of storms is expected Wednesday afternoon and early evening. These could produce hail up to half-dollar size and wind gusts up to 70 mph, though storms will overall be disorganized. The first round of storms should exit to the east by midnight before more storms possibly develop across the western South Plains.

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, storm coverage is expected to increase as activity develops in Eastern New Mexico. While an overall low threat for severe storms exists, some storms could produce wind gusts up to 50 mph, with isolated gusts potentially reaching 65 mph. Brief, heavy rainfall will also be possible and could lead to localized flooding in some areas.

Daily chances for storms continuing through the week and into the weekend. The severe weather threat remains low, although small hail, gusty winds, and locally heavy rainfall may accompany any storm that develops.
