MILLS, County — A Central Texas man has been charged with 20 counts of Arson in connection with a series of grass and hay field fires that occurred in Mills County earlier this year, authorities said.
Mills County Sheriff James Jones said Carlo Gossett was arrested and charged after an investigation into multiple fires that were intentionally set during the early months of 2026.

According to Jones, the fires primarily burned pastureland and hay fields throughout the county. No injuries were reported as a result of the incidents.
Authorities also believe Gossett may be connected to additional fires in neighboring Brown County, although no charges related to those incidents have been announced.

Jones said investigators have not determined a motive for the alleged crimes.
“Gossett gave no reason as to why he allegedly started all the fires,” Jones said.
