DENTON — The UNT women’s soccer team earned two American All-Conference honors voted on by the league coaches, the conference announced Sunday.
Junior midfielder Mia Bernard was voted second team all-conference, while freshman defender Lillian Vandiver was voted to the league’s all-freshman team.
Mia Bernard
Junior midfielder and team captain Mia Bernard earned her first nod to an all-conference team after earning all-rookie honors in 2023. Bernard was voted to the Second Team after being the catalyst for the Mean Green offense throughout the season from her offensive midfield role. Bernard led the team with six goals, was tied for the team lead with four assists and was second on the team with 51 shots on the season. She was also third on the team in minutes played with 1,586. Bernard’s soccer IQ is through the roof and her vision and poise in the midfield runs the Mean Green offense.
Lillian Vandiver
Freshman defender Lillian Vandiver quickly grew into a pivotal role for the Mean Green’s back line and should be a fixture in the starting lineup for years to come. She was fourth on the team in minutes played (1,537) as a freshman and ended up playing all 90 minutes 11 times, including in six of the last seven matches over the season’s final month. Vandiver had a three-match stretch in the final month against Temple, Memphis and Tulsa, when she had her first collegiate assist, another assist and her first collegiate goal – a highlight reel rocket from distance – in the waning minutes of a key draw with Tulsa.
