A man died following a single-vehicle crash in Plano Saturday night, according to a news release from the Plano Police Department.

At about 9:30 p.m., officers and Plano Fire-Rescue responded to a single-vehicle crash in the area of 14th Street and Los Rios Boulevard.

Investigators determined that a white Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on La Paz Drive, and was approaching 14th Street, when the driver attempted a left turn but accelerated through the maneuver, causing the vehicle to lose traction.

The driver then tried to regain control and overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to rotate, the release said.

The passenger, identified as Alex Rangle, 25, of Plano, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The driver, whose identity was not released by the police, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
