LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Showers and a couple of embedded weak thunderstorms are moving across much of the Caprock early Thursday morning, but the threat remains minimal for major impacts.

The wet weather will continue mainly for areas off to the southwest over the next few hours. Rain rates are light enough that flash flooding is not a concern at this time. Most of this early morning activity is expected to dissipate before noon.

Early morning activity will throw a wrench in today’s forecast. There is low confidence regarding high temperatures on the Caprock, but the most likely scenario will have highs in the 80s. The early morning showers will also make it difficult to determine the potential for additional storms this afternoon.

A couple of isolated storms may redevelop later into the evening, but coverage will likely be quite low. The severe weather threat for Thursday is minimal.

Early morning through noon, showers and weak storms will move across areas along and west of I-27. This activity will clear before midday. Isolated storm redevelopment is possible this afternoon into evening, but any storms that develop will be few and far between.
