The NWS has issued a Flood Warning for the area until 8:15 a.m. Friday. The flood warning includes San Antonio, Alamo Heights and Castle Hills, according to the NWS on X.com.
Low-water crossings and ponding on roadways are the primary threats this morning during the early commute, according to the NWS. Showers and storms are possible Friday afternoon under mostly cloudy skies, forecasters say. Highs will range from the upper 70s to the mid-80s in the afternoon.
There is a possibility of rain again on Saturday and Sunday. Localized heavy flooding is possible during the weekend in the San Antonio area, peaking from Friday night into Saturday afternoon, NWS said on X. There is a Level 2 of 4 risk for excessive rain on Friday. Residents can expect a Level 1 risk of excessive rainfall this weekend, which could bring 1 to 2 inches of rain and minor flooding before drier conditions return on Sunday, according to meteorologists.
Forecasters say temperatures should warm up over the weekend and level off for next week. Next week should bring drier conditions, according to the NWS. San Antonians are asked to stay weather-aware and familiarize themselves with the low-water crossings along their routes to avoid flooding.
