As the calendar turns to a new month, there is still plenty to be determined for the Texas Rangers.
A road-heavy schedule in the month of June could go a long way into deciding what type of summer it will be in Arlington, and was one of the many topics DMN’s Rangers insider Evan Grant covered during this week’s live Q&A session with fans on YouTube.
“The Rangers are playing 18 of 27, a 2-to-1 ratio of games on the road in June, which will build up the the deficit of home games significantly,” Grant said. “The upside of all that is if they can survive June, starting July 1, I believe they have about a 12-game home to road advantage the rest of the way, which is significant and should be something of an edge if this team can figure out ways to score runs in Globe Light Field.
“And the way to score runs in Globe Light Field, at this point in time with the dimensions, is to be opportunistic when it presents itself. Try and put some pressure on opponents and then, you know, hit the ball hard.”
As of June 5, the Rangers (30-32) are 15-13 at home and 15-19 on the road. However, Texas did just take two out of three games on the road while in St. Louis to kick off the month.
After a three-game series at Globe Life Field against the Cleveland Guardians that begins Friday, the Rangers are back on the road for a six-game trip through Kansas City and Boston.
