TXDOT and DART say both directions of Central Expressway will be closed after 9 p.m., with a partial closure on the service road.

RICHARDSON, Texas — U.S. 75 Overnight Closures Begin for DART Silver Line Bridge Work

Drivers along U.S. 75 should prepare for significant overnight disruptions this weekend as crews begin critical construction work tied to the DART Silver Line project.

Beginning Friday night, June 5th, construction teams will install the south-side arch of the new Silver Line rail bridge over U.S. 75, located just south of the President George Bush Turnpike. The large arch components are already staged near the site and will be lifted into place during a series of overnight closures scheduled through early Monday morning, June 8.

What Drivers Need to Know

The work will require a mix of full closures, partial closures, and rolling shutdowns affecting U.S. 75 main lanes, frontage roads, key ramps, and surrounding roadways, including Renner Road. Each night will bring a different traffic pattern, making it especially important for drivers to plan ahead before heading out.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:

Thursday, June 4 (9 p.m. – 4 a.m.)

Full closure of northbound and southbound U.S. 75 frontage roadsTemporary rolling closures on Renner Road at U.S. 75

Friday, June 5 (9 p.m. – 6 a.m.)

Full closure of all northbound and southbound U.S. 75 main lanesClosure of eastbound and westbound President George Bush Turnpike ramps connecting to southbound U.S. 75Partial closure of the southbound frontage road

Saturday, June 6 (9 p.m. – 8 a.m.)

Full closure of northbound U.S. 75 main lanesClosure of the ramp from northbound U.S. 75 to the President George Bush TurnpikePartial closure of the northbound frontage road

Sunday, June 7 (8 p.m. – 5 a.m.)

Full closure of both directions of U.S. 75 frontage roadsClosure of southbound U.S. 75 Exit 27 to Renner RoadTemporary rolling closures again on Renner Road at U.S. 75

Impact on Transit

In addition to roadway impacts, DART passengers will also see temporary service changes. Silver Line rail service will be suspended overnight between Shiloh Road Station and UT Dallas Station during portions of the construction work.

To accommodate riders, shuttle bus service will operate between:

Plan Ahead and Expect Delays

With multiple closures across several nights, transportation officials are urging drivers to expect delays and build extra time into their commutes. Detours will be clearly marked, but congestion is likely, especially near the U.S. 75 and President George Bush Turnpike interchange.

If possible, consider alternate routes to avoid the construction zone entirely.

Big Picture

This work is a key step in the continued development of the DART Silver Line, a major east-west rail project expected to improve regional connectivity across North Texas. While the short-term inconvenience may be significant, the long-term goal is to ease congestion and expand transit options across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
