A weekend forecast for the Houston area from the NWS.
More rain is expected to fall throughout the Houston area this weekend, and potentially during Saturday’s Pride parade and festival, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Houstonians can expect scattered showers and storms to stretch from Friday into Saturday, with the highest rainfall totals forecast to fall along and north of Interstate 10, according to the weather service’s Houston/Galveston office. Areas northwest of Houston, around the College Station region, have a slight risk of excessive rainfall Friday, while the Houston area has a marginal risk for excessive rainfall.
NWS meteorologist Jason Davis said isolated areas could see localized street flooding. The weather service issued a flash flood warning for the Houston area until 3 p.m. Friday.

“Overall, it’s just those localized areas where we do get a quick 1-3 inches of rain in a short period of time,” Davis said. “Rainfall rates of around 3-4 inches an hour for a brief bit of time can cause mostly localized minor street flooding.”
On Saturday, there’s a chance rain could fall during Houston’s downtown Pride parade and festival. The festival starts at 11 a.m., with the parade scheduled for 7:30-10:30 p.m.
The annual event celebrating the city’s LGBTQ+ community and its allies is typically held in late June, but it was moved up this year so as not to interfere with the FIFA World Cup that starts later this month.

“There will be a chance of rain [Saturday], around 70%,” Davis said. “We’re not looking at any sort of all day-type rain; it’s just likely to rain at some point during the day.”
So far this year, Houston’s Hobby Airport has recorded 18.9 inches of rain — about 1.6 inches below normal. Bush Intercontinental Airport has recorded slightly higher rainfall, with 23.3 inches so far this year — about 3.4 inches above average.
The total rainfall forecast for this weekend will vary from location to location, but overall, Davis said residents can expect 1-3 inches in total.
Rain is expected to dissipate Sunday afternoon, with partly sunny skies in Houston’s forecast for Monday.
