The suspect, police say, reportedly shot the victim after she had declined his request to come with him back to his home.
SHERMAN, Texas — Sherman police arrested a man early Sunday morning, charging him with shooting a woman after a party.
According to police, officers were called about the shooting at about 1:53 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, police found the victim with a gunshot wound to her back.
Investigation reportedly showed the victim and the suspect, 19-year-old Tredavian Taylor, had attended a party earlier that evening, and the victim had given Taylor and another person a ride home following the party.Â
But upon Taylor exiting the vehicle, he reportedly fired one round into the driver’s seat, striking the victim in the back. Police believe this happened after the victim had denied Taylor’s requests to come back to his home.
The victim is expected to recover, police say. The other passenger wasn’t injured.
Police charged Taylor with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Records show he was booked into the Grayson County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
