A new exhibit honoring Corpus Christi icon Ronnie “Pointy Boots” Mathis is now on display at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History.
The exhibit features personal items on loan from Mathis’ family and close friends, giving visitors a closer look at the man known for his colorful personality, creative expression, and longtime presence around the city.
Among the items on display are Mathis’ bicycle, suits, jacket and rings. Museum officials said the collection includes some of his most personal belongings and offers a unique glimpse into his life and legacy.
Clare Sepulveda, the museum’s collections registrar, said the items were provided by family members and friends who wanted to help preserve Mathis’ story for future generations.
According to the museum, the exhibit took several months to organize and will remain on display for at least six months.
Additional items may be rotated into the exhibit during that time.
Sepulveda said Mathis was widely recognized throughout Corpus Christi and inspired many people to embrace their individuality.
Museum staff is encouraging visitors to stop by the exhibit and share their favorite memories of Mathis while learning more about his impact on the community.
The exhibit is currently open to the public at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History.
