The Connecticut-based chain teased its first Houston location in February, saying “one location just wasn’t enough” for its fluffy, seedy, tasty, crusty bagels in Texas. Since then, PopUp Bagels has spread out across the state with this being the third of at least a dozen new shops in the Lone Star State across the Austin, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio areas.
“Texas felt like the right kind of energy for us, fast-growing, food-driven, and open to new concepts,” PopUp Bagels CEO Tory Bartlett previously told Chron when explaining that the chain was looking for more places to expand.
PopUp Bagels got its start as a backyard pickup window in Wesport, Conn. in 2020. In six years, the “not famous but known” brand has grown to several states from coast to coast, with shops in Georgia, Tennessee, Maine, California, New York, Florida, and beyond.
To kick off its grand opening, PopUp Bagels’ new Houston location will have a special celebration on June 12th from 8-11 a.m. with a live DJ, and a new Spicy Queso cream cheese for a limited time only. On opening day, 50 percent of proceeds from opening day will also be donated to the JJ Watts Foundation.
