Free movies will play across San Antonio, Texas, in summer 2026. From Santikos to Slab Cinema to The Rock at La Cantera, here’s where to find them.
City Of San Antonio World Heritage Office
A fun summer doesn’t have to break the bank. There will be plenty of opportunities to sit back with some popcorn and catch a free movie in San Antonio.
You can expect to catch several of your favorite dramas, musicals, and childhood stories: From Hidden Figures to Hamilton to The Lizzie McGuire Movie. MySA rounded up where film lovers will be gathering over the next few weeks.

Free movies at Mission Marquee Plaza
Enjoy a blast from the past on the city’s Southside, where the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office hosts free screenings at Mission Marquee Plaza. Folks are encouraged to bring picnic snacks and blankets on select dates. Five events are scheduled in June, including Ratatouille on Saturday, June 27. Each showing begins at 8 p.m.

Free movies at Santikos
The San Antonio-based chain is offering free admission to children’s movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this summer. According to the Santikos website, the offer applies only to showtimes that begin at 10 a.m. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Folks can also enjoy a $6 Summer Kids Combo featuring popcorn and a 16-oz drink. The following theaters will not participate: The Grand Ambassador, The Grand Fort Bliss, The Grand Pier Park and AmStar Cinemas Four Seasons Station.
What can your little ones look forward to? Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on June 9 and 10, and K-Pop Demon Hunters on June 16 and 17, among others.

Free movies at The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts
Residents in downtown also have options. On the second Saturday of the month, take a drive out to the Will Naylor Smith River Walk Plaza to catch classics like Mean Girls, Wayne’s World, and School of Rock. Attendees can park at the Tobin Center Parking Garage. Limited seating will be available, but the center recommends bringing blankets or lawn chairs. Films begin at 7 p.m.
“Pets, outside food, and outside drinks are not permitted on the plaza or inside the theaters,” according to the venue’s website.

Free movies at the Rock at La Cantera
Blockbusters and Bites will also be active this season. Families are welcome at the Frost Plaza from July through August. The series kicks off with a 2000s favorite on Friday, July 3. Each night will feature its own theme, cocktails (for the adults, of course), and pre-show activities.
You can even hype up the kids for a Back-to-School screening of Monsters University on Friday, August 7. Events start at 6:30 p.m., and showtimes are at 7 p.m.

Free movies at the Tower of the Americas
The Tower of the Americas is another spot that cinema lovers will want to check out. Once a month, a movie begins at sunset at the base of the building. Superman will play on Saturday, July 11, and The Blind Side will be shown on Saturday, August 8, according to the landmark’s website.

Free movies in San Antonio
The San Antonio River Authority plans to host Cinema Nights across town over the next few months. Showings include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem at Escondido Creek Parkway on Tuesday, July 21; Bad Guys 2 at Branch River Park on Wednesday, July 22; and The Barbie Movie on Tuesday, August 18. Movies begin at sunset each time.
