SANTA TERESA, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — A man was arrested after he allegedly shot his mother in Santa Teresa on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place on Ashwood Drive near Santa Teresa Elementary at approximately 3 a.m.

Officers arrested Kevin Marin.

Marin’s brother told police that Marin had shot their mother.

Marin’s brother stated he saw his mother bleeding heavily in the hallway of the home.

The brother stated that he heard Kevin Marin screaming and yelling late at night and told him to go to sleep.

The brother said he also heard his mother tell Kevin Marin to go to sleep because “he was acting crazy,” the court document stated.

The brother said he saw his mother take Kevin to his bedroom and stay with him.

The brother said that around 3 am, he heard gunshot sounds.

When he went to check what had happened, he saw his mother bleeding.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers went to the hospital and saw 11 gunshot wounds on the woman.

Officers found casing belonging to a semi-automatic rifle/carbine at the scene.

Marin is charged with aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon and attempted to commit a felony of murder.
