AUSTIN – We were live at Game 1 of the Austin Super Regional, where the No. 11-seeded Oregon Ducks lost 10-3 to the No. 6 Texas Longhorns at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Texas ace left-hander Dylan Volantis struck out 10 Ducks over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win.
But the story of the game was the Ducks’ inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Oregon stranded 17 runners on base while batting 2-for-20 with runners on base and 0-for-14 with Ducks in scoring position.
Texas went 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position, while being led by shortstop Adrian Rodriguez. He went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs.
Oregon starter Cal Scolari struggled with his control, walking six batters and hitting one while allowing five earned runs over 3 2/3 innings.
Ducks left fielder Jax Gimenez went 2-for-3, while third baseman Drew Smith hit an inconsequential solo home run in the eighth.
Oregon (42-17) will start right-hander Will Sanford (9-2, 3.46 ERA) in Sunday’s Game 2 at 6 p.m. The Longhorns (44-13) will counter with right-hander Ruger Riojas (5-2, 3.86 ERA).
