FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Kentucky Department of Agriculture released new guidelines following the announcement of a confirmed New World screwworm infestation in Texas.
Effective immediately, officials said any animal demonstrating clinical signs of a screwworm infestation is prohibited from entering Kentucky.
Additionally, any livestock from Texas must now have a permit number obtained from the Kentucky Office of the State Veterinarian and a signed statement from an accredited veterinarian confirming the animals have been inspected and found to be free of screwworm signs, among other requirements.

These guidelines will be in place through Aug. 1, 2026, but may be subject to change.
