The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners are headed to Omaha for the College World Series, but the Dallas-area ties don’t end there.
Several rosters at the CWS are littered with Dallas-area products that once were standouts in the high school baseball scene. See the full list of players from the Dallas area who will suit up at the College World Series.
Texas
SS Adrian Rodriguez, Flower Mound
Rodriguez is a mainstay for the Longhorns, making 50 starts this season. On the year, the sophomore infielder is batting .306 with an .873 OPS and four home runs. Rodriguez is also a weapon on the basepaths, as his 13 steals are good for second on the team. He was an All-State talent at Flower Mound, helping his high school win the UIL 6A state championship in 2023.

INF Ethan Mendoza, Southlake Carroll

Mendoza is a junior who played his high school ball at Southlake Carroll, serving as captain during his senior season and helping Carroll win the 2022 UIL 6A state championship. So far this year, he has started 57 games for the Longhorns, totaling 10 home runs and 47 RBIs while compiling an .861 OPS.
RHP Brody Walls, McKinney Boyd
Walls was a four-year letterman and captain at McKinney Boyd, where he set the school’s single-game strikeout record with a 17-punchout performance. He’s made 18 appearances out of Texas’ bullpen during his freshman year, compiling a 5.76 ERA in 29 ⅔ innings. Walls’ electric stuff has carried over to the next level with 36 strikeouts, but command has been an issue as he has nine walks and has hit seven batters.

RHP Max Grubbs, Arlington Martin
Grubbs is in his senior season with Texas, but was very decorated at Arlington Martin. He was a captain at Martin, a two-time All-District selection and was named the District Pitcher of the Year in 2022. This year, he has a 5.52 ERA in 29 ⅓ innings, but sported 3.67 and 2.84 ERAs in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
Oklahoma
2B Kyle Branch, Lovejoy
Branch is a sophomore infielder out of Lovejoy, where he was a captain and was named first-team All-District as a senior. So far this season with the Sooners, Branch has a .638 OPS with three homers and 21 RBIs. Branch was, however, named to the SEC All-Freshman Team last year with two home runs and a .714 OPS.

OF Dasan Harris, Plano East

Harris has appeared in 55 games for Oklahoma during his junior year, making 31 starts. The Plano native has an impressive .362 average and .986 OPS with four homers and 23 RBIs. He’s also a weapon on the basepaths for the Soooners, as he is third on the team with 18 stolen bases. At Plano East, Harris was an All-District and All-State talent.
LHP Trent Collier, Prosper Walnut Grove
Collier is in his first season at Oklahoma after spending his freshman year at Weatherford Community College. He has a 3.97 ERA over 17 appearances, totalling 22 ⅔ innings and 27 strikeouts out of the bullpen for the Sooners. Collier was the All-District Pitcher of the Year during his senior campaign at Walnut Grove.

Georgia
INF Ryan Black, Mansfield Lake Ridge

Black is a Mansfield Lake Ridge product who transferred to Georgia after spending his first two seasons with UT Arlington. He was an All-District selection at Lake Ridge and became an All-WAC talent at UTA before joining the Bulldogs. This season, Black has been one of Georgia’s most productive bats, compiling a .298 batting average and .928 OPS in 52 starts, totaling nine homers and 32 RBIs.
SS Kolby Branch, Lovejoy
Branch began his college career at Baylor with a Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection before transferring to Georgia. Prior to Baylor, he was an All-State and All-Area talent at Lovejoy. He’s put together a monster senior season at Georgia with a 1.033 OPS, 19 home runs and 58 RBIs in 63 starts. Branch’s 18 doubles lead the team.

West Virginia
RHP Reese Bassinger, Wylie
Bassinger’s baseball journey has been a winding one. He was first an All-District talent at Wylie, where he was named Utility Player of the Year. Bassinger began his collegiate career with two seasons at Odessa Junior College before transferring to Tarleton State in 2024 and transferring again to West Virginia in 2025. This year, he has a 3.23 ERA and a 4-3 record. In 55 ⅔ innings, Bassinger has 56 strikeouts to just 18 walks.
