When Lauren Moore takes the stage in Dallas on Nov. 4, she won’t just be delivering a concert — she’ll be offering a testimony of survival and spiritual renewal. In January, the Dallas-based singer found her life abruptly upended when a bout of flu triggered Guillain–Barré Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder, that left her struggling with paralysis, nerve pain and the frightening possibility of losing her voice.

Moore had to spend months learning how to walk, speak and sing again, enduring painful treatments along the way. She and her husband, Dave Moore, who both serve as musicians for the Diocese of Dallas, relied on their Christian faith to see them through the ordeal. They say they booked the evening at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center with the goal of Lauren singing again, at a time when that outcome did not seem certain.

Moore, who co-founded the nonprofit Catholic Music Initiative with her husband, specializes in sacred and liturgical musical forms. The soprano’s musical palette spans from classical vocal training, opera and chant to modern sacred arrangements, with an eye toward drawing audiences into reflective praise. At the Meyerson, she will present “The Moore We Are” — an evening of music, testimony and worship.

Listeners can expect sacred and worship-inspired music, along with Moore’s reflections on her recovery — moments shaped by the long hours of rehabilitation, the walker she once needed and the prayers that sustained her.

For attendees, the evening promises more than music: It is a gathering of community, faith and resilience. Proceeds will benefit the Catholic Music Initiative and its cause of championing sacred music.
