Canutillo ISD warns about scam text messages
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Canutillo Independent School District is alerting residents who live inside the district about a “spoofing/scam” text message.
The message falsely claims to be from Superintendent Josue Borrego, Ph.D., and asks recipients for a favor, the district said.
The district says this is a scam and warns people who receive it not to interact with the message and not to reply to it. People are also told not to click on any links or provide any personal or financial information.
All official communications from Canutillo ISD will come from verified district accounts and phone numbers, the district said.
The CISD Information Technology Department is aware of this scam attempt and is working with the appropriate authorities to address the issue, CISD said.
