DALLAS COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – Investigators are releasing the name of a Dallas County man who was killed in a fiery weekend crash.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the victim’s body was pulled from an SUV Sunday morning and transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for positive identification.
On Tuesday, ALEA confirmed the victim as Sardis resident Samuel L. Jackson, 64.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol division determined Jackson was driving a 2023 Toyota 4Runner when, around 7 a.m. Sunday, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail, a bridge, and then caught fire.
The crash happened on Alabama 22 near the 17 mile marker. That’s about a mile west of Selma, in Dallas County.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
