The Texas GOP Convention kicks off today in Houston, featuring a full slate of speakers, legislative priorities, and even some votes.

“We are in our 250th anniversary of our nation, so we’ll start the convention with opening ceremonies” said Abraham George, chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, “Governor Abbott will be there, the Lt. Governor, there’s going to be a lot of elected officials at the location.”

That location will be the George R. Brown Convention Center, and in addition to Governor Abbott, other speakers include Congressman Brandon Gill, and U.S. Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent.

“Victor, our elephant will be there. People just enjoy being at the Convention Center, along with all of the other patriots from all over Texas” George told KTRH, “We’re looking at about a little over 10,000 people showing up, it’s an amazing event.”

Some of the key agenda items include dealing with the Islamification of Texas, and also revisiting the Texas GOP’s pro-life platform.

“We are all-in about ‘every life matters’, especially the unborn children” noted George, who is up for re-election himself this weekend.

The MC for the event is conservative Benny Johnson.
