After giving up a comeback win the night before, the RockHounds shut down another Hooks rally for a 7-5 victory.
MIDLAND, Texas — After giving up a six-unanswered run comeback the night before, the Midland RockHounds bounce bac by holding off another Corpus Christi Hooks rally Wednesday for a 7-5 victory.
The RockHounds took a 7-0 lead before the Hooks brought it back to a two-run game. Jackson Finley got back on the mound for the first time since May 6 as he sat out on the injury list.

He threw four-plus innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in his second start for the RockHounds and first at Momentum Bank Ballpark. A.J. Causey earned his second save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Midland scored in each of the first four innings, starting with a Cameron Leary RBI single and Euribiel Angeles sacrifice fly in the first inning. Cole Conn chopped a fair ball over the first base bag for an RBI double before scoring on a wild pitch in the second inning.
Luke Mann earned an RBI on a groundout in the third inning before Leary’s RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Ryan Lasko capped the scoring for the RockHounds.
The Hooks got on the board in the fifth inning, thanks to a leadoff walk and error to bring in a run on a Drew Butcher groundout. Tyler Whitaker mashed a solo shot in the seventh for his first home run of the season and Jason Schiavone blasted a two-run homer in the eighth. Whitaker added a second RBI on a groundout in the eighth inning to round out the scoring.
Game 3 of the six-game series between the RockHounds and Hooks begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
