EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Nearly 3,000 El Paso Electric customers were without power Wednesday afternoon following an outage in the Racetrack Drive area.

According to El Paso Electric’s outage map, 2,908 customers were affected by the outage, which began at around 3:56 p.m. on June 10.

The utility estimated power would be restored by 6 p.m. Wednesday, though restoration times are subject to change as crews work to address the issue.

The outage also caused disruptions for businesses and organizations in the area, including KTSM 9 News, which experienced technical difficulties preventing our 4 p.m. newscast to go on-air.

El Paso Electric had not publicly identified the cause of the outage as of Wednesday afternoon.
