HOUSTON – Dr. Tina Petersen, executive director of the Harris County Flood Control District, has resigned from her position, according to confirmation from the agency.
The resignation was confirmed Thursday by officials from the Flood Control District.
The circumstances surrounding the resignation have not been confirmed. KPRC 2 is working to determine more information.

Dr. Petersen had served as executive director of the Flood Control District since January 2022, when she was appointed by Harris County Commissioners Court. According to the Gulf Coast Protection District website, she comes from an environmental engineering and regional water management background
During her tenure, Petersen oversaw the agency’s flood mitigation and recovery efforts at a time when the district faced ongoing criticism over funding, project priorities and broader concerns tied to flood prevention spending and county finances.
