Price’s guilty plea is also a surprising turn, considering his original not guilty plea in May 2025. He has been in federal custody since his arrest.
Nakia Holmes and then-husband Price opened their stuffed-turkey-leg restaurant Turkey Leg Hut in 2017, and it quickly became one of Houston’s most prominent hotspots, with celebrities including Drake, James Harden and Snoop Dogg visiting over time. The restaurant declared bankruptcy in late 2024, but Holmes hinted plans of a rebirth in March and announced she would host a one-day food pop-up on June 13—three blocks from the restaurant’s former home. It’s unclear whether the event will operate under its former name.
“You can close a building. You can’t close a legacy,” Holmes wrote in an Instagram post.
Along with the bankruptcy and Price’s legal problems, the restaurant and the couple behind it have been in the news repeatedly over the last decade. The business had been constantly under fire with noise and smoke complaints. Later, Holmes and Price went through a messy separation that included the latter opening a small-time oyster business down the block from Turkey Leg Hut.
Price also faces a fine of up to $250,000 plus the expected five-to-20-year sentence, per the Houston Chronicle. His sentencing is expected to be in September. Price’s latest plea agreement was not immediately available.
