A frightening encounter involving a parent and child ended with a suspect shot by Houston police in west Houston Thursday night.
Police say the man was reported for pointing a gun at the pair before leading officers on a foot chase from the Westheimer area.
Authorities say the suspect continued to ignore commands and pointed a gun at officers in a nearby neighborhood.
One officer opened fire, hitting the suspect, who was taken to a hospital. No officers were hurt, and the investigation is continuing.
