View Tribute Book Dorothy Jean Bailey of Haltom City, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2026, in Azle, Texas. She was 82 years old. Jean was born on December 30, 1943, in Itasca, Texas, to Arvis and Frances Bailey. She attended Itasca High School and later graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. She taught for 33 years with the Fort Worth Independent School District at Elder Middle School. Jean often spoke of her love for the farm where she grew up and her fond memories of the smell of freshly turned earth while driving a tractor. She had a passion for her cats and dogs and enjoyed birdwatching. She traveled to different states to observe a variety of birds. She was preceded in death by her father, Arvis Bailey; her mother, Frances Bailey; and her brother, James Bailey. She is survived by her sister, Donna Crawford, and her longtime close friends, Jeannie, Jeannette, and Suzanne. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, Texas 75006.
