Georgia is 5-0 in the NCAA tournament, advancing to the College World Series for the first time since 2008 when it topped SEC rival Mississippi State 11-9 in 10 innings on Sunday to win the Athens Super Regional in a two-game sweep. Daniel Jackson powers the Bulldogs with 31 home runs, 86 RBI, and 26 steals in 28 attempts while Brennan Hudson (21) and Michael O’Shaughnessy (20) also top the 20-homer mark.

Texas also swept its way to Omaha, beating No. 11 seed Oregon 6-5 on Sunday to complete a two-game sweep of the Austin Super Regional when Adrian Rodriguez lashed a two-run double down the left-field line in the top of the eighth inning to give the Longhorns the lead. Aiden Robbins paces Texas with 24 home runs and 64 RBI, with Anthony Pack Jr. coming into the College World Series with 20 stolen bases in 23 tries. Carson Tinney has 22 homers on the season as well.

The teams did not meet during the regular season, with the Longhorns back at the CWS for the first time since 2022 and looking for a seventh national championship, last claiming the crown in 2005. The Bulldogs are in the College World Series for the seventh time and won their lone championship in 1990. The winner advances to play the winner of Sunday’s earlier Oklahoma-Alabama game on Monday night, while the losers square off in an elimination game on Monday afternoon.
