AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), with help from the Office of the Attorney General, has apprehended Dante Dewayne Odom, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender and October Featured Fugitive. Odom, 52, was arrested on October 9 at his workplace in Houston.
Odom, who had been wanted in Harris County since June 2025 for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements, was captured following a tip, according to a press release from the Texas DPS. The Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers, and the Texas Attorney General’s Office collaborated to locate and arrest him. Odom was previously convicted in 1992 for burglary of a habitation with the intent to sexually violate a 30-year-old woman and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He has also faced multiple convictions for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
Odom’s status as a Featured Fugitive this month increased the reward for information leading to his capture to $4,000. Texas Crime Stoppers, funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, offers cash rewards for tips leading to the arrest of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, or Criminal Illegal Immigrants. In 2025, DPS and other agencies have arrested 54 individuals from these lists, including 22 sex offenders and 13 criminal illegal immigrants, with $41,000 in rewards paid for successful tips.
To be eligible for cash rewards, tips must be submitted through the Crime Stoppers hotline, the DPS website, or via Facebook. All tips remain anonymous, and tipsters receive a tip number instead of using their name. The DPS works with local law enforcement to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted lists, which are available on the DPS website. Authorities advise against attempting to apprehend these fugitives, as they are considered armed and dangerous.
