BOSTON — The Rangers’ razor-thin depth will be tested once again.

The Rangers placed outfielder Michael Helman on the 10-day injured list with a right hand fracture and recalled outfielder Alejandro Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Helman suffered “multiple fractures” in his hand when he was hit by right-handed pitcher Tyron Guerrero’s 101 mph sinker in the eighth inning of Saturday’s loss.

The Rangers faced three left-handed starters in eight games while Osuna was in the minor leagues, and given his 3 for 17 career line against southpaws, he would’ve had fewer opportunities to play. He went 7 for 19 in six games with Round Rock and started a game at first base as the Rangers continue to find ways to best use his versatility.

Helman slashed .167/.235/.300 in 15 games this season.
