After a disastrous first inning and a 7-1 loss in the College World Series opener to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Texas Longhorns face elimination today against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Texas ace Dylan Volantis had one of the worst outings of his season, hitting four batters and making a mess of a first inning that saw the Bulldogs score four runs. Star Texas catcher Carson Tinney committed two errors in the inning that doomed UT from the star.

At the plate, the Longhorns bats were mostly quiet, only managing one run thanks to Adrian Rodriguez and Ethan Mendoza.

The Longhorns face Alabama for the fourth time this year. Texas won the SEC series back in April 2-1. But UT lost to Bama pitcher Myles Upchurch, who is an option at starting pitcher today.

Texas will throw Ruger Riojas, who is 5-2 on the year with a 4.04 ERA.
