One of the top girls basketball recruits in the Dallas area has finalized her college plans.
Argyle’s Landry Murphy, who will be a senior next season, announced her commitment to Texas A&M on Monday afternoon.
Murphy was an all-state selection and earned first-team all-area honors this past season after helping Argyle win the Class 5A Division II state title, its seventh state championship and first since 2019. Murphy didn’t have huge scoring numbers, but the 6-2 guard/forward is an elite defender who can guard any position, and the three-year starter averaged 11 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists and three steals.
Besides Texas A&M, Murphy had offers from Rice, Tulsa, Colorado State, North Texas, UNLV, Wichita State and Louisiana Tech, among others. Argyle should contend for another state title next season, as it had only one senior on its roster.
