LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The South Plains will see a split personality Monday. Morning showers are expected to clear by afternoon, with sunshine before a return of severe thunderstorm potential late Monday evening into early Tuesday morning.

Showers will track eastward through the area through the remainder of the morning before diminishing around noon. Once the rain clears, skies will begin to clear with highs warming into the 80s.

Another chance for storms will develop later Monday evening through the early morning hours Tuesday as higher terrain storms move into areas across the Caprock. A few severe thunderstorms are possible Monday evening on the Caprock.

The main threats include quarter-sized hail, winds up to 65 mph, and locally heavy rainfall.
