Plano Police confirmed a Plano resident died following a car crash on Nov. 1.
Plano Police and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel responded to a single-vehicle crash near 14th Street and Los Rios Boulevard at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1.
A white Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on La Paz Drive approaching 14th Street when the driver attempted a left turn onto eastbound 14th Street but accelerated through the maneuver, causing the vehicle to lose traction, according to a preliminary investigation. The driver overcorrected while trying to regain control, causing the vehicle to rotate. The right side of the vehicle then struck a wooden power pole, causing significant damage to the passenger side.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Plano Fire-Rescue and was identified as Alex Rangle, 25, of Plano. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Plano Police Traffic Unit is investigating.
