Death investigation underway after body found on Lake J.B. Thomas shoreline

SCURRY COUNTY, Texas (KCBD) – The Scurry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death believed to be related to a previously reported missing person case.

Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, Scurry County deputies responded to the north shoreline of Lake J.B. Thomas near the Bull Creek channel following reports of a body found along the shoreline.

Responding deputies, along with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Colorado River Municipal Water District, were able to recover the deceased individual.

After an investigation of the scene, an autopsy was ordered by Scurry County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Ricki Webb.

“The Scurry County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,” Sheriff Trey Wilson said in a press release. “Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.”
