FORT WORTH – Wallace Brant Austin, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Inurnment: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Brant was the firstborn child to Wallace and Lynell Austin on July 3, 1943, in Pasadena, CA . He graduated with the class of 1960 from Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth, then attended Arlington State University. Brant began his career in advertising at Leonard’s Department Store in Fort Worth, while in the eleventh grade, through Carter Riverside’s Distributive Education Program. Brant met and married Shirley Nethery while at Leonard’s and soon thereafter was hired as the Advertising Manager for Wolfe Nursery in Stephenville, TX. Later on, he moved back to Fort Worth and started Austin Advertising Marketing and Public Relations. Brant had many talents and interests. He was an amazing sketch artist, who would often gift a family member with a witty and highly entertaining poster-size, birthday card caricature. He especially enjoyed bird hunting and fresh-water fishing. He was a crack shot with both a rifle and a shotgun. At age 18, while on a visit to France, he entered a local skeet/trap shooting competition. He beat the French champion. Friends teased Brant that both doves and fish avoided anywhere he might be. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lynell Brown; his father, Wallace Austin; and stepdaughter, Cindy Pilcher. He is survived by his stepson, Jackie Nethery and wife, Jackie; stepdaughter, Ginger Edwards; brother, Greg Austin and wife, Linda; sister, Mary Johnson; brother, Steve Lee Austin; stepsisters, Margie Milburn and Edie Biggs and husband, Greg; stepbrother, Arthur Stephens; and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
