The Austin Parks and Recreation Department issued a public notice on Monday that Barton Springs Pool would remain closed until further updates as a result of the heightened rainfall and area flooding. Videos shared on social media by TikTok user @casey.legg depicted rushing water, rapids and waterfalls at the natural springs pool.
“PSA Barton Springs Pool is Closed today – for obvious reasons. This rain is crazy!” @casey.legg captioned the video, which has been viewed more than 120,000 times.
For those looking to take a refreshing dip later this week, city officials encouraged residents and visitors to double-check the Parks and Recreation Department’s facility closures page, which confirms which pools and splash pads are currently offline.
