EL PASO, Texas — A 41-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly threatening shoppers with a knife at the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso.
Joseph Yvan Rechy, of El Paso, Texas, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and making a terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury, according to a press release from the El Paso Police Department. Officers responded to the 7000 block of S. Desert Blvd on June 12, 2026, at 1:55 p.m. after reports of a disturbance involving Rechy, who reportedly approached multiple individuals while brandishing a knife and making stabbing motions. He also allegedly approached a woman carrying a young child.
Rechy was arrested and charged with the listed offenses, with a total bond set at $84,000. No injuries were reported during the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing, stated the source.
