Two years after opening and inviting all rib-loving Texans to enjoy the meaty goodness, another famed Texas barbecue joint is closing its doors. However, this time it’s not due to rising beef prices.
Ribbee’s, the offshoot of Goldee’s BBQ — Texas Monthly’s former No. 1 BBQ Joint, shared the unfortunate news that it is closing its doors at the end of the week. Luckily, fans of the rib-only barbecue joint can rest easy knowing there’s hope for a revival.
“Our final day of service will be Sunday, June 21st. We will be running our normal hours all week long, so there is still plenty of time to come get your barbecue fix,” Ribbee’s wrote on Facebook. “The building is changing hands, and the new landlords will be taking over the space to open a restaurant of their own. While it is incredibly tough to say goodbye, this isn’t the end of the road. We are actively looking for a new home for Ribbees so we can fire the pits back up for you soon.”
Only serving ribs, Ribbee’s offers combo meals of chicken, baby back, rib top and beef ribs, each coming with fries, a buttered roll, a pickle and a soda. All four ribs are available in spicy dry rub, regular dry rub, hot honey sauce, Korean BBQ sauce and golden BBQ sauce. Those wanting a dessert can enjoy vanilla, chocolate or strawberry milkshakes as well as banana pudding and peach cobbler.
As for where Ribbee’s will reopen, White told MySA that he’s hopeful the new location will end up back in Fort Worth at a new address.
“Once [Kirbee’s] is set up and running I wanna work on getting a Ribbee’s opened in Fort Worth again!” White said to MySA. “I believe Ribbee’s would’ve stuck around forever had it not been for our new landlord who recently bought the building.”
In the meantime, guests have through this Sunday, June 21, to grab one last box of delicious ribs before Ribbee’s goes on hiatus.
