LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and 90s Tuesday with mostly clear skies and dry conditions dominating the forecast.

While severe weather is unlikely, a very small chance exists for an isolated storm to develop this afternoon as a weak boundary moves through the area.

If storms do develop, strong to marginally severe wind gusts up to 55 mph would be the primary threat. However, any storms that form are expected to struggle and likely fade by sunset.

Tuesday night will be fairly quiet with mild to warm temperatures persisting into Wednesday, when heat advisory conditions are expected to develop across the region.

Looking ahead

The heat will be the main story through Wednesday before cooler air moves in Thursday and Friday. Storm chances will increase during that cooler period before heat rebuilds this weekend.

What you should do

With near heat advisory conditions expected Wednesday, stay hydrated, apply and reapply sunscreen, and limit outdoor activities during peak heating hours.
