BROWNFIELD, Texas (KCBD) – A Brownfield man was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting two children, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas announced.
40-year-old Pedro Marcos Hinojosa was sentenced June 10 to 600 months by U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix after pleading guilty to producing child pornography and possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor, prosecutors said. The court also ordered Hinojosa to pay $3,466 in restitution.
Court documents say a woman reported in September 2025 that she saw nude photos of a 9-year-old girl on Hinojosa’s cellphone. The child later told investigators Hinojosa had sexually abused her and taken sexually explicit photos of her multiple times starting when she was 8, according to prosecutors.
Authorities located Hinojosa on Sept. 12, 2025, at a homeless shelter in Lubbock, where he tried to flee before being taken into custody, court documents say. Hinojosa admitted producing child sexual abuse material, and investigators found photos and videos of the victim on his phone, prosecutors said.
At sentencing, prosecutors said a second victim reported that Hinojosa sexually abused and photographed her when she was 8 years old more than a decade ago. The victim came forward after seeing news of his arrest, according to court records.
In imposing the statutory maximum sentence, the court cited the need to prevent Hinojosa from harming other children, prosecutors said.
The FBI’s Dallas Field Office and local and state agencies investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Callie Woolam prosecuted the case with assistance from the Terry County District Attorney’s Office.
