South Oak Cliff offensive tackle Brian Swanson committed to Texas on Wednesday afternoon.
Swanson is rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports and is the 13th-ranked prospect in the D-FW area for the Class of 2027. According to 247, he’s the 18th-best offensive line prospect in the nation and held offers from Oklahoma, SMU and Alabama before committing to Texas. He took an official visit to Austin this past weekend.
Swanson started at multiple positions along the SOC offensive line as a junior and anchored an offense that helped guide the program to its third state championship and fifth consecutive title game appearance. The 6-5, 315-pound Texas pledge also competes in track and field for SOC where he was a regional qualifier as a sophomore in the shot-put.
According to 247Sports, Swanson is the highest-rated offensive line pledge Texas has received since Brandon Baker in 2024 out of Mater Dei in California. He’s currently the third offensive line prospect committed to Texas for its 2027 class.
