Most of the city of Corpus Christi’s nonessential offices will be closed June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

All offices will reopen June 22.

The city departments that will be closed include City Hall, most public libraries, Municipal Court, City Call Center, Development Services and the public health district.

La Retama and Owen R. Hopkins libraries will be open to serve as cooling centers, but full library services will be provided.

Emergency and essential services such as police, fire and the airport will remain open and maintain normal operations.

The utilities business office will be closed, but customers may make utility bill payments online on corpuschristitx.gov or at any H-E-B location.

Schedule for other city departments

Animal Care Services

Closed, but residents may contact the Corpus Christi Police Department non-emergency line at 361-826-2600 for urgent animal concerns.

Parks and Recreation

Lozano Golf Center and Oso Beach Golf Course will be open June 19.

The Al Kruse and H-E-B tennis centers will be open June 19.

All city swimming pools and splash pads will be open June 19.

The walking trails and playground at the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve & Learning Center will be open daily from dawn to dusk. The Learning Center will be closed June 19.

The Corpus Christi and Ben Garza gyms will be closed June 19.

The After Hour Kid Power Program will be closed June 19.

The Ethel Eyerly Senior Center will be open but serving primarily as a cooling center. No senior meals will be provided. All other senior and recreation centers will be closed June 19.

Solid Waste Services

Garbage, recycling, brush and bulky items will not be collected June 19. Juneteenth’s garbage and recycling will be collected June 20.

The J.C. Elliott Collection Center & Transfer Station will be closed on June 19, but the Cefe Valenzuela Landfill will be open.
