This is a crime wrap-up for June 5-15.
Graffiti (under $100)
On June 5, a staff member reported graffiti under $100 in the women’s restroom located in the basement of Nedderman Hall. The investigation is ongoing.
Graffiti with under $100 in pecuniary loss is a class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
The case is still active.
Theft of property ($100-750)
On June 6, a UTA student and Centennial Court resident reported that his scooter was stolen while it was parked unsecured at a nearby bicycle rack. There are no suspects at this time.
On June 15, a non-affiliated individual filed a delayed theft report of $100 to $750 after reporting that their property was stolen during a baseball game at Clay Gould Ballpark.
Theft of property valued between $100 and $750 is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement in jail for up to 180 days or both.
Both cases are still active.
Driving while intoxicated with an open alcohol container and reckless driving
On June 9, a non-affiliated individual was arrested during a traffic stop near campus for reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.
Driving while intoxicated is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a minimum of 72 hours in confinement. If the trial shows that there was an immediate open alcohol container in the offender’s possession when operating the vehicle, the minimum jail time becomes six days.
Reckless driving is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200, confinement in a county jail for no more than 30 days or both.
Theft (under $100)
On June 11, a UTA student reported that their property was stolen after being left unattended in the Connection Café. The investigation for theft under $100 is ongoing.
Theft under $100 is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of no more than $500.
