Greenville officials on Monday named Benjamin Petty as its new administrative services and finance director. He will assume the position next Monday.
Petty brings more than 20 years of experience in financial management and leadership across both municipal government and nonprofit organizations.
He most recently served as chief financial officer for Citizen Schools Inc., where he led all financial operations, including budgeting, audits and investment management.
While there, he implemented the nonprofit’s first investment strategy – generating more than $250,000 annually for program funding.
His municipal experience includes roles with the cities of Plano and Wylie.
In Plano, he managed operating and capital budgets of up to $500 million and oversaw long-range financial planning. He also led development of an open data initiative and contributed to financial modeling and analysis during proceedings involving the North Texas Municipal Water District and the Public Utility Commission.
In Wylie, Petty directed budget operations and worked closely with local school districts, appraisal districts and economic development organizations.
Petty holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a certified public manager and a certified government finance officer and is currently pursuing licensure as a certified public accountant.
