It’s been nearly six years since Feast closed its doors in San Antonio’s Southtown neighborhood, with its former home making way for new concepts. A few blocks north on Alamo Street, the eatery’s sister restaurant, Battalion, has continued to serve the area. In a few days, two will become one in the historic firehouse locale for a temporary holiday takeover.
In a news release shared with MySA, a representative for Feast explained that the restaurant will operate in place of Battalion from Wednesday, November 5, to Wednesday, December 31. The Italian restaurant will be on ice until at least the end of December while Feast serves up its bygone menu of customer favorites, like ground lamb kebabs and green harissa mussels. Additionally, Feast is bringing a cocktail list inspired by royalty, with drinks like the Bloody Marie, a riff on the classic bloody mary and the Princess, a mix of vodka, lemon juice and raspberry liqueur swirl.
Feast and Battalion were both founded by Andrew Goodman and chef Stefan Bowers, along with a host of other concepts, including Rebelle and Haunt, though the former business partners have since parted ways. Feast first opened in 2011 and operated in its original home at 1024 S. Alamo St. until it shuttered at the end of 2019. Goodman appears to retain ownership of the concept and explained via the news release that bringing back Feast is a long time coming.

“Ever since Feast closed, friends and patrons have been asking me – will you ever re-open Feast? And the answer was mostly ‘no’ until now,” Goodman said. “Instead of re-opening Feast, I have decided to have a Feast take-over at Battalion. A menu take-over allows an established restaurant to experiment with new menus and concepts.”
The news release about the takeover mentioned that the original Feast sign would be installed at the Battalion building, but when MySA drove by the business on the morning of November 3, the sign had not yet been placed. Since the property is historic, we contacted San Antonio’s Office of Historic Preservation to ask if any applications have been put forth to install the sign permanently, and a coordinator with the office said that no application has been received for work at the location.
Feast has an active profile on the reservation website OpenTable, with its bio on the site stating that “the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is now home to Feast.” MySA also reached out to Goodman and Feast’s rep to ask for clarification about the sign and if Battalion will return following the Feast takeover, but they did not immediately respond to our inquiries. We will update this story when we learn more.
